SourceRE is launching a tool that lets MLSs plug their data directly into artificial intelligence platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude, and more than 20 MLSs have already signed on.
The Colorado-based MLS compliance and data distribution company announced the SourceRE MCP on Wednesday at CMLS Open House. It’s available as an official member benefit to the Council of Multiple Listing Services’ 241 member MLSs, and participants pay no platform or implementation fees.
The pitch is about who controls AI’s access to listing data.
Right now, SourceRE argues, portals, aggregators, and scrapers sit between AI platforms and MLS data, making it hard for MLSs to enforce their rules or protect their intellectual property.

The MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, connects authorized users straight to participating MLSs, and each MLS sets its own permissions and data policies. License verification through the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) is built in.
Andrew Coca, CEO of SourceRE, framed the launch as a race against habits that are already forming.
“We cannot spend the next two years debating how AI should access MLS data while portals and aggregators establish user habits and workflows that teach our industry to access MLS data in AI without the MLS,” Coca said.
SourceRE also named a Board of Advisors to guide its AI strategy and product development. The board includes CMLS CEO Jessica Edgerton and ARELLO CEO Jessica Hickok, along with Angie Baker of MIBOR Broker Cooperative, Richard Gibbens of Intermountain MLS, Daniel Jones of Hive MLS, Lori Miller of elevateMLS and Gilbert Gonzalez of LERA MLS.
The MCP adds to a SourceRE lineup that already includes MLS database infrastructure, data distribution and licensing, and its Data Dye forensic tracking tool.
