Did you know that Monday morning between 8am-9am is the deadliest hour in America?

Do you know what that means?

It means, the majority of people would rather die than go to work after the weekend!! Now, I know that this is probably not the most positive way to start off an article, but it does make a greater point; YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE ONE OF THESE PEOPLE.

At Agent Reboot, I will be speaking on the topic of, “Stop Being an Employee and Start Running a Business”. One of the things that I have always admired about Realtors® is that, for the most part, they chose to be in this profession. Many get into this industry for all the right reasons. They want more flexibility, no income restrictions, to be their own boss and on and on. The issue that I have seen with many of these well intended agents though is that while they may have gotten into the business for all the right reasons, they now find themselves doing things everyday that they simply don’t enjoy and have lost the entrepreneurial spirit that was their driving force in the beginning.

Can you relate to this? If so, you are not alone, but it is time to snap out of it! In a market like we are experiencing right now, you cannot afford to sit back and wait for your broker’s leads or go into the office to “see what the day brings you”.

One of the most common comments I get from agents at events I speak at is,”I’d be doing better if it weren’t for the market.” and, “There are just no deals out there!”

Many times I will respond by telling them to go search their local MLS to see how many transactions have been done over the past 30 days. I did this with someone recently and he discovered that there were over 337 houses put under contract in his county alone. So the real problem is not a lack of deals, the real problem is that his name was not on more of those contracts!So this begs the question…

How do you change this?

I can tell you that it definitely won’t happen with an employee type of mindset. In today’s market business owners are going to win and they are going to win big.
