A home in Palo Alto, Calif., that sits on a modest 0.39 acres of land and stretches 2,650 square feet just sold for $14.5 million, an amount that has struck some locals as bafflingly outsized.

Mark Zuckerberg happens to live adjacent to the property and a wealth management firm that counts him as a client was listed as the buyer, fueling speculation that the Facebook head honcho may be behind the purchase.
