First-gen gentrifiers skirmish with hipster heirs in NYC neighborhood

The new generation of hipsters to settle in Bushwick, a fast-gentrifying New York City neighborhood, is irritating the cohort that drove many lower-income residents out of the neighborhood in the first place, the New York Post reports.

The focal point of a conflict that the Post termed the “Battle of Bushwick” is a ritzy rental complex marketed for artists called CastleBraid.

The predecessors of those inhabiting the luxury building accuse their heirs of freeloading on their parents. Recently, crime-scene tape reading “Occupy” was found adorning the building, an act of protest by Occupy Wall Street supporters who live in Bushwick, according to the Post.
