Treasury: HAMP refis have saved 1.1 million homeowners $19.1B

The Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) has provided permanent loan modifications to 1.1 million homeowners as of March 2013, according to the Obama administration’s latest monthly Housing Scorecard. HAMP refis are saving borrowers a median of $546 a month, or $19.1 billion to date. Another 140,000 homeowners have avoided foreclosure through short sales or deeds-in-lieu of foreclosures with assistance from the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program (HAFA).
