The rates at which banks denied mortgages to would-be homebuyers ranged from 11 to 34 percent in 2012, according to data released this month by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, MarketWatch reports

Chase had the highest rejection rate, while SunTrust posted the lowest, according to MarketWatch.

“It absolutely makes a difference where you go,” Stu Feldstein, president at SMR Research, a mortgage research firm, told MarketMatch.
