The Los Angeles-based Community Health Councils and three other groups are about to launch a “Zillow for vacant lots,” LA Open Acres, tracking nearly 300 acres of land in South Central Los Angeles that could potentially be transformed into parks or other community spaces. The movement to track vacant lots started in New York City, where the group 596 Acres has helped citizens’ groups repurpose 22 vacant parcels, Ozymandias reports. Source: ozy.com.
