New York City offers the worst savings for couples shacking up together, according to an analysis by Trulia, the New York Post reports.
Couples who decide to trade in their own one-bedroom apartments for a shared two-bedroom in the same building enjoy a “shacking-up discount” that averages 35 percent nationally, Trulia found.
But New York City’s discount for cohabiting lovers is only 28 percent. Sacramento, Calif., on the other hand, boasts the largest discount, saving couples an average of 40 percent.
