Rising home prices and elevated mortgage rates are proving a “toxic cocktail for homebuyers, pushing affordability down dramatically,” writes CNBC’s Diana Olick.

Only eight of the 25 largest housing markets are “affordable” for a median-income household, according a report from Interest.com cited by Olick. That’s reportedly down from 14 out of 25 markets last year.
