Stray dogs find shelter in Detroit's wasteland of vacant homes

A horde of as many as 50,000 stray dogs inhabit Detroit, whose estimated 70,000 vacant homes provide shelter for the canines, Bloomberg reported.

“It was almost post-apocalyptic, where there are no businesses, nothing except people in houses and dogs running around,” Amanda Arrington of the Humane Society of the United States told Bloomberg about a visit she made to the city last year.
