Legg Mason Inc., a global asset management firm, today announced a 15-year agreement to lease up to 400,000 square feet in a soon-to-be-built mixed-use complex in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor East Area.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The proposed complex, owned by H & S Development Corp., will house a class A office building, the Four Seasons Hotel and condominium residences. It is part of a larger, 38-acre mixed-use development with commercial, retail and entertainment tenants. Legg Mason plans to move into the space in the summer of 2009.

As part of the new lease, Legg Mason plans to consolidate its Baltimore operations. It will bring several hundred employees back into the city, housing the majority of the Baltimore-area employees at the new Legg Mason Tower in Baltimore’s Harbor East district in 2009.
