Journalists from around the country will gather in Philadelphia this spring for the National Association of Real Estate Editors‘ 41st Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference — covering trends and topics from subprime lending to loft redevelopments.

NAREE, a nonprofit journalism association, today announced that the deadline for early registration has been extended until April 15, 2007.

Editors and writers from newspapers, broadcast and Internet media are encouraged to register quickly to take advantage of the low $99 early registration fee.

Registration must be completed online at www.naree.org. The conference runs May 30 to June 2 at the Doubletree Hotel Philadelphia, 237 S. Broad St. in downtown. The hotel is located a short distance from Philadelphia’s noteworthy historic attractions.

Real estate columnist Al Heavens of the Philadelphia Inquirer is the chairman of this event. The conference will provide real estate journalists with great story ideas, new sources of information and a notebook full of usable quotes. Professional freelance writers are welcome. Topics will include both residential and commercial real estate.

The conference will include how-to sessions on podcasting and authoring realty books. Panels of national experts and leading economists will discuss trends on home remodeling, redeveloping industrial buildings, casino gambling as a growth tool, rail transit as a catalyst for development, green building and mortgage trends. Afternoon tours of noteworthy projects in the Philadelphia area will be conducted.

Another highlight of the conference is the 57th Annual Journalism Competition awards luncheon, which will be held Friday, June 1. In addition, the ever-popular Meet the Press session provides fast-paced networking between journalists, publicists, authors, editors, columnists and the publishers of real estate books.

In addition to registering with NAREE, attendees must also make hotel reservations with Doubletree. Call (800) 222-TREE for hotel reservations. The conference will be held from 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, until noon on Saturday, June 2, 2007.

The National Association of Real Estate Editors, founded in 1929, is an 800-member organization. Membership information is available at www.naree.org.
