Long-term mortgage interest rates ticked up Thursday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield increased to 4.01 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average eged up to 5.62 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate increased to 5.19 percent. The 1-year adjustable rate increased slightly to 5.49 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield was also up at 4.48 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 174.93 points, or 1.3 percent, finishing at 13,619.89. The Nasdaq increased 42.67 points, or 1.6 percent, closing at 2,709.3.
