FindTheHome recently released a list of the top U.S. cities for millennials, a population that is hugely important for local Realtors to pay close attention to. In exchange for the white picket fence, millennials are increasingly interested in amenities, walkability and being around like-minded individuals.

Washington, D.C., was ranked no. 6 as a top city for 20-somethings, with a whopping 58 percent of its population being unmarried. Its “20’s index” is 87.9, which is a figure that factors in percentage of single, educated people, total population size, number of bars and restaurants and amount of places within walking distance.

Going beyond the boundary lines of Washington, D.C., Arlington was also ranked as one of the nation’s best for millennials. The city has a walkability IQ of 94, an average commute of 30.7 minutes and 45.7 percent of its population is unmarried. Arlington had a 20’s index of 87.7.
