Police have confirmed the identity of a man found dead along the Clearview Expressway in Queens, New York, as Emmanuel Moncoeur, a real estate agent with eXp Realty, The Real Deal reported Friday.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that a passerby discovered Moncoeur’s body in the grass near the Union Turnpike exit around 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, officers found the victim’s hands bound and observed signs of blunt force trauma to the head.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced Moncoeur, 57, dead at the scene. Due to decomposition, it remains unclear how long his body had been there.

On Friday, police confirmed the victim’s identity, and the New York medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide. His injuries included a fractured skull.

Moncoeur’s family and friends revealed that he had been missing since early January and was last seen by his housemates on Jan. 2. Though he was never formally reported missing, according to ABC7, concern grew when they were unable to reach Moncoeur, as he was typically responsive by phone.

“After three, four, five days, when I never heard from him, I said, ‘What’s going on?'” Valery Pierre, who shared a Glendale apartment with Moncoeur, said, as reported by Gothamist.

Moncoeur’s brother, Renel Saint-Amour, stated that he initially believed Moncoeur was simply on his annual trip to Haiti and did not suspect any safety concerns.

Moncoeur was a real estate veteran of over 20 years, serving as a real estate sales and sponsoring manager for eXp Realty in Rosedale, New York, according to his agent profile on eXp Realty’s site and his LinkedIn profile. Moncoeur is also listed as an associate real estate broker on OneKey MLS, New York’s largest multiple listing service, and worked in Hauppauge, Long Island.

Before joining eXp Realty, Moncoeur worked as a licensed agent at New York Life Insurance Company, serving the Jericho, New York, area from 2016 to 2020.

The investigation into Moncoeur’s death is ongoing. Currently, police have not identified any suspects.
