Two former eXp Realty agents accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a fellow agent have reached a confidential settlement with their accuser, just two days after their federal civil trial began in Los Angeles.
In a notice filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, attorneys for Anya Roberts — a former eXp Realty agent who accused the brokerage of ignoring allegations of sexual misconduct — said she had reached a settlement in principle with David Golden and Michael Bjorkman that would fully resolve her claims against the two men.
The parties expect to file dismissal paperwork within 15 days after finalizing the agreement. Financial terms were not disclosed in the court filing.
The development comes just days after eXp Realty reached a separate confidential settlement with Roberts, resolving her claims against the brokerage. Roberts also agreed to dismiss her remaining claim against eXp founder Glenn Sanford, who was not a party to that settlement.
Roberts filed her lawsuit in December 2023, alleging that Golden and Bjorkman drugged and sexually assaulted her during company recruiting events in 2020. She also accused eXp and its leadership of knowingly benefiting from the alleged misconduct and failing to intervene despite complaints about the two agents.
Golden and Bjorkman have denied the allegations. eXp has also denied wrongdoing, saying its settlement with Roberts does not constitute an admission of liability.
The allegations first emerged in a separate lawsuit filed in February 2023 by four women who accused Golden and Bjorkman of using their influence in the real estate industry and promises of career advancement to lure women to events where they were allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted.
Bjorkman was arrested in 2021 and charged with two counts of sexual assault in Las Vegas, but prosecutors dropped the criminal case after concluding they could not prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.
In August, U.S. District Judge André Birotte Jr. divided Roberts’ case into two trials. The trial against Golden and Bjorkman began Monday, while a separate trial against eXp Realty and Sanford had been scheduled for Nov. 16 before the earlier settlement.
Although the agreements bring Roberts’ lawsuit toward a close, the separate lawsuit brought by four other women, known as Acevedo, remains pending in the same federal court.
