The annual list of most influential people in the industry recognizes those who embrace leadership, innovation, ingenuity, power and persistence — they are the industry’s best and brightest and also include those outside figures whose actions influence the business of buying and selling homes.

And the annual list of most influential real estate bloggers recognizes those bloggers who are well-known, well-read, and have a knack for stirring up discussion and debate on important, timely and relevant topics for the industry.

The 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders list is divided into six categories:

  • Residential real estate brokerage
  • Technology and online real estate
  • Real estate trade association and government agencies
  • Media heavyweights
  • Economists, academics and advocates
  • Mortgage and ancillary services

Among those recognized in the 2007 list: Sherry Chris, former chief operating officer for Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corp. who now leads Realogy’s Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate franchise company; Glenn Kelman, CEO of Redfin; Ed Krachow, president of Prudential California/Nevada/Texas Realty; Mark Lesswing, chief technology officer for the National Association of Realtors; Errol Samuelson, president of Realtor.com; Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve Board; and David Charron, president and CEO for the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems multiple listing service.

The 25 Most Influential Real Estate Bloggers list highlights the authors of a range of top industry-related blogs, including:

  • Broker and agent blogs
  • Community/multi-author blogs
  • Mortgage blogs
  • Housing economics blogs
  • Industry commentary blogs
  • Marketing and how-to blogs
  • Local blogs
  • Company blogs
  • Journalists’ blogs
  • Housing bubble blogs

The 2007 list includes such blogging luminaries as Noah Rosenblatt of UrbanDigs.com, Joseph Ferrara of the Sellsius Real Estate Blog and Patrick Killelea of Reality Parser.

Nominations will be reviewed by Inman News editorial staff and company managers, and an internal review team will consider these and other influential individuals that fit the criteria before making a final selection.

The 2008 list of 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders will be published on Thursday, Sept. 25, and the 2008 list of 25 Most Influential Real Estate Bloggers will be published on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008.
