The value of the transaction was $147.5 million. Archstone-Smith will own and manage the residential and garage components of Fox Plaza, which comprises 444 apartment units and 411 parking spaces. The value of the transactions was not disclosed. Located on 18 acres, the property is a 350,000-sqaure-foot warehouse/distribution facility that includes loading facilities and rail access. Albert Rodd of New Jersey was charged with conspiracy in New Jersey federal court as a result of allegations that he manufactured documents in connection with a $30 million alleged mortgage fraud scheme in Bergen County, N.J., according to reports. Last month, three other people, Jamila Davis, Brenda Rickard and Arisma Theodore, were indicted by the Grand Jury in the District of New Jersey, sitting in Newark, in the case. more...

Being a real estate agent is a dangerous job, but there are ways you can protect yourself, according to a Houston police officer who conducts seminars for Realtors in concert with the Houston Association of Realtors. "The most important thing you can do is to always be aware of your surroundings," said Officer Jesse Martinez of the Houston Police Department. Martinez has given seminars to 400 Realtors in the area as part of its Sold On Safety program with the HAR. more...

The 30-year fixed-rate average rose to 5.27 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate gained to 4.85 percent. The 1-year adjustable was up at 3.75 percent.
