Real Estate Roundabout

A Chicago condo board is suing the resident of a North Side high-rise because it claims she is being uncooperative in its efforts to eradicate more than 500 bedbugs in her unit, according to Crain's Chicago Business. The suit said her failure to cooperate has hampered efforts to keep the bugs from finding their way to other residences in the building.

I've been following stories on bed bug lawsuits at http://www.bed-bugs-handbook.com/bed-bug-lawsuit.html This case, while today is somewhat unusual, it should become more of the norm as more aggressive treatment is needed to get rid of a bed bug problem. This is particularly the case among Senior population as they often show now skin reaction to the bites, allowing the insect population to grow before infesting nearby apartments. Every realty management company should be including written policies in all lease agreements regarding how treatment is both funded and carried out.
