It’s official: Josh and Matt Altman and six other team members at Beverly Hills luxury broker Hilton & Hyland have jumped ship for Douglas Elliman Real Estate’s new California brokerage.

The Altman brothers are “the go-to agents for elite clientele ranging from celebrities and top-ranking athletes, to international business moguls and high net worth individuals around the world,” Douglas Elliman crowed in an announcement today, noting their “record-breaking sales,” including the most expensive one-bedroom home sale in L.A. history ($21.5 million).

“Josh and Matt have built one of the most impressive global networks of high-end clients in the industry,” said Dottie Herman, president and CEO of Douglas Elliman, in a statement. “Their collective knowledge, business relationships and influence will be key drivers of our mission to develop California’s premier real estate brokerage brand. We’re thrilled to have them join our team and excited about our future together.”

Brad Inman reported Tuesday that the Altman brothers were leaving Hilton & Hyland, and pegged Douglas Elliman as their likely landing spot. Just last month, Inman noted, Douglas Elliman expanded its Beverly Hills brokerage at the expense of rival The Agency, which lost Jeeb O’Reilly and her team of three top agents: Julia Brodsky, Tori Barnao and Gersh Gershunoff.

Douglas Elliman is known as the largest brokerage in the New York metro area with more than 5,500 agents working out of 79 offices in New York City, Long Island, the Hamptons, and Westchester and Putnam counties.

The company, which has been expanding into luxury markets like Greenwich, Connecticut; Aspen, Colorado; and South Florida, opened its Beverly Hills office last year.

Douglas Elliman’s website was displaying information for 39 sales reps in its Beverly Hills office on Santa Monica Boulevard today, including the Altmans, but all eight of the new agents announced today don’t appear to have been added yet. A spokeswoman for the company said more than 40 agents work out of the Beverly Hills office.

The company said it plans to move into new 11,000-square-foot digs on El Camino Drive currently being built by Patrick Tighe.
