Ask people why they got into real estate, and one of the most common answers you’ll hear is this: “I get to set my own schedule.” Sound familiar?

But once you dive into the business, you realize this statement is both true and a little naïve. Agents quickly discover that achieving success as an entrepreneur means maximizing every moment of every day.

That’s what this article is all about — creating the ultimate daily schedule so you can experience your “best day ever,” every day!

A marvelous morning mindset

Getting to the best day ever starts by telling yourself, “Today is going to be the best day ever.” One of the things that prevents us from achieving that consistently are emotional highs and lows. You need to work on eliminating that up-and-down drama.

The next step toward that goal is to make sure you design your day. When your day has a clear plan, you know exactly what you have to do, who you need to call and what has to happen next. You not only get more done, but also feel more fulfilled.

If you leave your day to chance with nothing on your schedule, there’s no sense of urgency, and it becomes all too easy to forget or fall off track from what you’re really trying to accomplish.

Quite simply, live by this mantra: If it’s not in your schedule, it doesn’t exist.

If you’re already operating from a schedule but are having trouble sticking to it, you may be lacking accountability. Take advantage of a Free Coaching Consultation to discover how to increase your efficiency and fulfill your true potential.

Do the thing, have the power

I love the saying, “Do the thing, have the power.” What are the things in your business that give you the power? If you do those things, you have the power. If you don’t do those things, you don’t have the power.

Doing the activity in the moment might not always feel like you’re making progress, but you have to trust that you are. For instance, the calls you’re making will lead to deals closed 90 days from now.

Start your day with momentum

So let’s get to the actual details of creating your “best day ever.”

It begins with a powerful morning routine from approximately 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. When you create and execute your morning routine, it acts like a slingshot, propelling you into your day full of momentum.

Once you get to the office, here are three daily activities to start your workday:

  • Look at the hot sheets: When you know the market, you know new listings, you know new escrows, and you’re better prepared to serve your clients. Knowledge is power.
  • Role play: Just like you stretch before you exercise, you need to practice before you pick up the phone to engage with prospective clients. Spend 15-20 minutes a day role-playing objection-handlers, closes, prequalification conversations or whatever scripts you need to convert more business. Whatever you do, don’t “warm up” on your actual calls.
  • Hours of power: Call your database, call your hot sources, follow up on leads. Book those appointments and set yourself up for success!

Design your schedule, design your business

I guarantee if you do these things every morning, your afternoons will be packed with appointments. If you do this routine 220 to 280 days each year, what would happen to your business?

You’ll find yourself in control and operating your business by design. You’ll have swagger. When you do these things, you’ve got the power.

One last point. Make sure to schedule in this question: What time do you want to stop your day? If you design the schedule, you win! If you leave it to chance, you’re going to be depleted both financially and emotionally. Take control of your business and improve your today!
