Compass Global will serve as a referral hub and education platform for Compass agents looking to build their cross-border businesses.

A month after unveiling agent-led division Compass Plus, the NYC-based brokerage is popping the top on another one: Compass Global.

Compass Global lets U.S.-based agents easily connect homebuyers with colleagues licensed in both the U.S. and international markets, with the initial focus on six countries and seven key markets throughout the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Latin America and the Caribbean. The division expects to reach 15 markets by the end of September, expanding into Central America, South America and Asia.

The division has already received more than 700 applications, with agents being split into four tiers based on the depth of their international real estate experience.

Tier 1 agents have strong, established international real estate businesses, while Tier 2 agents have international marketing agreements and cross-border business, but not to the level of Tier 1 agents. The next tiers are for agents who are in the beginning stages of building their global footprint (Tier 3) or those who have a connection to a specific country or international region through frequent travel, family or other significant ties (Tier 4) and are willing to leverage that connection to help clients.

Compass Global division members will use Compass’s established referral system to facilitate transactions, with the firm adding a new 10 percent referral reward this year for listing agents who send inquiries on their listing from Compass.com to other Compass agents.

John Eric

“For more than two decades, I’ve watched clients build extraordinary lives in the U.S., only to hit a wall the moment their ambitions crossed a border,” division head John Eric said in an emailed statement. “The Compass Global Division exists to remove that wall. This is the next chapter of how Compass shows up for its clients, wherever in the world they call home.”

Compass veterans Kelly Robinson, Harmony Hoefner and Megan Probst are leading the division’s business development, marketing, and systems and tracking, with the quartet diligently curating “education, market insights, peer learning, thought leadership and white papers” for its members.

Megan Probst

“We’re witnessing more people move across borders right now than at any point in recorded history,” Probst said in the announcement.  “That complexity is exactly why we built this division: every referral and transaction is tracked with the same discipline our clients expect at home, and the same infrastructure behind our agents, so that trust travels with both the client and the advisor representing them.”

Added Robinson, “No one should be forced to lower their expectations simply because they’ve crossed a border. Now it’s time to build the bridge.”

Compass President Neda Navab praised Eric, Probst, Robinson and Hoefner’s efforts, saying that the agent-led division is an inflection point in the brokerage’s mission to strengthen its international presence.

Neda Navab

“The Compass Global Division marks a significant step forward in expanding our global reach while empowering our agents with the targeted resources they need,” she said in a prepared statement. “By organizing our top international talent into structured tiers, we are creating a clear roadmap for professional growth and ensuring that our global clients receive unmatched advisory services anywhere in the world.”

Compass Global is the second agent-led division launch this year, behind Ruth Reffkin’s Compass Plus, which focuses on serving senior clients and their families.

The NYC-based firm also has divisions focused on sports and entertainment, luxury, military and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
