Lake Homes Realty is expanding its focus on waterfront communities to include mountain locales with the launch of a new standalone brokerage called Mountain Homes Realty, the firm announced Tuesday.
The brokerage will service buyers and sellers in 21 states across the U.S. More than $100 billion in listings can now be viewed on the company’s website, MountainHomesRealty.com.

“Across all our specialty brands we’ve learned how to connect local and out-of-state buyers with unique lifestyle properties,” Lake Homes Realty CEO Glenn S. Phillips said in a statement. “The purchaser of a mountain home may live hundreds of miles away and scan listings in several states at once. We make that search — and the seller’s exposure to these distant buyers — dramatically easier.”
The firm first branched out of its original lake homes model with the launch of Beach Homes Realty in 2023. Beach Homes Realty currently operates in 16 coastal states.
Since the term “mountain home” isn’t as clearly defined as “beach” or “lake” home, the brokerage has opted to define a mountain property as one that “sits at elevation, enjoys a mountain or ridgeline view, lies within a community shaped by the mountains, or if proximity to elevated terrain clearly increases its value,” according to Phillips.
“Think of Whitefish, Montana — homes in the flat valley still command premiums because ski slopes and alpine trails are minutes away,” Phillips said in a statement. “We recognize people will view mountain real estate differently from region to region. We will continue to update and refine MountainHomesRealty.com to help more and more buyers and sellers with their dream mountain lifestyle.”
Lake Homes Realty said the expansion was a natural complement to the brokerage’s lake and beach niches, potentially opening up opportunity for cross-marketing for buyers with multiple interests and lifestyle needs. The continued prevalence of remote and flexible workers, as well as individuals aging into retirement and seeking a new lifestyle or second home in mountain regions, also helped drive the launch.
Lake Homes Realty is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mountain Homes Realty currently has listings available in the following states: California, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire.
