Both leaders said that NextHome’s franchise model allowed them to streamline operations without sacrificing growth potential.

Two leading California franchise owners have found a new home for their teams, switching their affiliation from Keller Williams to NextHome.

Albert Meggers moved his franchise to NextHome in May, shortly after NextHome joined the AGNT network and debuted its growth model for large, high-performing brokerages. The model offers two technology options — Full Tech Stack and Lite Tech Stack — that let owners balance overhead costs while getting operational support. In both options, brokers also retain ownership of their data.

Colleen Rogers followed suit in September, with the brokers’ collective footprint including 400 agents across five offices in Southern California.

Megger’s firm, NextHome Coastal Estates and NextHome Central Coast, serves homebuyers and homesellers in the Central Coast and Ventura County, California, markets. Meanwhile, Rogers’s NextHome Pacific Estates team has its focus on Yorba Linda, Orange and Anaheim, California.

“As the industry evolves, many large brokerage owners are asking themselves whether the systems around them are actually helping their business move faster and operate more profitably,” NextHome President of Strategy Keith Robinson said in a prepared statement. “We built this model specifically for operators who want to simplify some of that complexity without sacrificing their culture, independence or growth.”

Meggers and Rogers said industry consolidation motivated their moves, with both leaders saying NextHome’s franchise model allowed them to streamline operations without sacrificing growth potential.

The duo said the simplicity of the model — a five-year agreement and a choice between two levels of service: the Full Tech Stack (which provides access to the full range of NextHome’s tech offerings, alongside hands-on help from the firm’s Member Services team) and the Lite Tech Stack (which allows brokerages to access the NextHome brand, support and resources with a lower overhead) made affiliating with NextHome a no-brainer.

“Real estate is going through a period of punctuated change, and we have a voice in shaping the future based on who we affiliate with,” Meggers said in a written statement. “If you honestly look at where NextHome fits within the real estate industry, the vast majority of agents align with its values. I’m excited to operate under a brand I can be proud of: a company that lives its values, supports its people, and genuinely cares about its operators. I’m confident I’ve found that at NextHome.”

Rogers added, “NextHome empowers me to be with my people again, to really hear what they need and show them how we can already provide it. I feel like there’s a renewed energy among our agents. I am excited for the future again.”

NextHome President James Dwiggins said Meggers’ and Rogers’ moves show that real estate professionals want options that aren’t “one size fits all.”

“The future of real estate is not one size fits all,” he said in the announcement. “Large-office operators shouldn’t have to choose between scale and simplicity. Different brokerages have different needs, and we wanted to build something flexible enough to support their reality while still protecting the culture and independence that make those businesses special.”

AGNT, formerly known as eXp World Holdings, acquired NextHome in May for an undisclosed amount, saying the deal marked the firm’s transition into a “multi-model platform capable of supporting diverse business models and brands under one global umbrella.”

“Teams and agents need more paths forward, and the industry needs companies led by people who don’t just talk about being agent-centric, but live it,”eXp Realty CEO Leo Pareja previously told Inman. “We’re building a platform that supports multiple models, because every agent and every consumer served deserves choice.”

NextHome’s growth under the AGNT banner has yet to be fully realized, with AGNT Chief Financial Officer Jesse Hill saying the franchisor’s contribution during the second quarter was “smaller, more modest,” with eXp’s revenue accounting for gross commission income and NextHome mainly generating revenue through franchise fees.

The CFO said AGNT expects that to be the story in the “shorter term” as AGNT begins to execute the multi-model blueprint it unveiled after acquiring NextHome in May.
