Christie’s International Real Estate has opened its first affiliate in mainland China. The new office, Christie’s International Real Estate Shanghai, will be led by managing director Stephenie Zhou.
Thaddeus Wong, co-CEO of @properties, announced the launch in a LinkedIn post. He wrote that expanding into mainland China was a goal when @properties acquired Christie’s International Real Estate five and a half years ago.
“Expanding the network to mainland China was exactly the kind of ambitious goal we hoped we might one day achieve,” Wong wrote. “That day is here.”
The Shanghai team focuses on the city’s luxury residential market, including new developments, branded residences and historic homes, the company said in a Facebook post. The company said the team also works with developers and luxury clients whose real estate interests extend beyond China.
Wong described Shanghai as a global center of finance and culture and wrote that the Christie’s name already carries recognition in the city because of the work of Christie’s auction house. The company said the name has long resonated with collectors and luxury buyers throughout Greater China and called the launch a milestone for its Asia-Pacific network.
Wong credited the brand’s EMEA and APAC team, led by Helena Moyas de Forton in London, for the partnership. He also named Ryan Leung and Symphony Choi in Hong Kong, who worked with Moyas de Forton to complete the deal.
“This is the kind of milestone that reminds me how much of our growth comes down to great people building great relationships,” Wong wrote.
