If you haven’t heard of virtual brokerage eXp Realty, then you’ve probably been living under a rock for most of 2018: The company’s parent company, eXp World Holdings, started publicly trading this year and crossed $1 billion in market share on its first day on NASDAQ.

EXp Realty COO Mary Frances Coleman has clearly built up a workforce to be reckoned with, even in this day and age of employee restlessness as the employment rate continues to rise and the next big opportunity is just around the corner — for workers with all titles, at all levels of experience. She’ll be talking about how to manage a restless workforce at Inman Connect San Francisco, July 17 through 20 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.

“One of the things I’ve been able to do in the past year is understand that if my focus is ‘how do I keep everybody here,’ then I’m missing the point,” explains Coleman. “If the people in the workforce today are all job-hoppers, then that means they want to be well-compensated for what they’re doing, be engaged, have fun at work, and create and build and contribute. So my mindset should be, ‘I want to hire all of those people,’ and whether they stay for 2 or 20 years, it’s still good to have that creative asset for as long as you have it.”

That’s because those creative people often come up with better ways to do their jobs — and if you’re a good COO, then you’ll listen to those folks; they’re not only making your business more efficient, they’re feeling engaged and happy to be contributing at work.

Learn more about how a billion-dollar COO runs a world-class business at Inman Connect San Francisco in July.
