Kanye and Taylor Swift at the VMAs, Obama in the White House, and the internet without Uber or Instagram — 2009 now feels like some distant, faraway time. And to show just how much things have changed, there is always the latest internet challenge.

In the latest, the so-called “10-Year Challenge,” celebs and regular people alike are posting contrasting photos of themselves in 2009 and 2019 all over social media.

Real estate professionals, of course, didn’t want to miss out on the fun, with agents and even CEOs taking to Instagram to share their own then-and-now photos.

These included real estate stars like Barbara Corcoran, of Shark Tank:

Popular real estate coach Brian Buffini also posted photos of himself in 2009 and 2019:

Plenty of agents, brokers and Realtors across the country all posted photos of themselves:

New York real estate broker and Bravo TV star Fredrik Eklund posted a more general summary of his year:

This was the best year of my life – and the most challenging. The beautiful twins brought so much love, fun and chaos all at once. My biggest challenge to overcome was the guilt I felt for not being able to split myself and be with them at all times. To balance the now two demanding jobs: my career and them. Perhaps I wasn't prepared, perhaps I was bad at sharing some of the difficulties – or perhaps I got exactly all the things I always wanted. I do have a newfound respect for my own parents, actually all parents out there. Now, I look back at the year and can smile at myself worrying and always trying to make everything perfect for the kids. As I look at M and F dressed up for tonight and think of the long difficult journey here, there is just no way I can be more grateful for all of it, including the challenges. This is fatherhood. 2018 was also real difficult – but wonderful – for my business. I think most people can agree that New York City experienced one if its most challenging markets in a decade. Yet the team closed on nearly 300 homes, more than any year before, increased our average sales price and way surpassed last year’s closed commission. It was an uphill battle in the marketplace but this is when we decided to accelerate against a lot of odds. During the year we tripled the team size. And opened our own 10,000 sqft retail office on Broadway designed by Paris Forino and featured in Architectural Digest, as well as expanded to California. We won bigger and more iconic projects and had the #1 and #2 best-selling buildings in Manhattan in number of closings (Steiner and One West End) and the biggest new condo filing in dollars (The XI) in 2018. Thanks to Elliman, it’s management, John, Julia, Scott, Suzie and the entire team (I can only tag 20 people I love in the photo 😊) we are positioned so well for the future whatever it may bring. – It’s almost midnight and New Years Eve here in the Maldives and the twins are wearing party hats and daddies drinking frozen margaritas. Wishing you all the best New Years and an amazing 2019 full of love and success. /Fredrik

And, naturally, some brokerages also took the resolution with a grain of salt with memes and photos poking fun of the profession.
