In the year 336 BC, Alexander the Great became king of Macedonia, then soon set out to conquer much of the known world.
On Tuesday, Keller Williams pulled off a kind of reverse-Alexander, announcing that in its push to cover the globe it has now reached North Macedonia.

Aleksandar Siljanoski
Specifically, the company said in a statement that it has awarded a new master franchise in the Balkan country (which, technically, lies just north of Alexander’s ancient kingdom). Aleksandar Siljanoski will serve as regional operating principal, and a market center is expected to open in the country sometime this quarter.
The statement goes on to note that Siljanoski has 25 years of business experience and has worked “across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.”
“Aleksandar brings deep global experience and a bold local vision,” William Soteroff, president of Keller Williams Worldwide, said in the statement. “Under his leadership, we’re confident that KW will not only thrive in North Macedonia but will help shape the future of its real estate industry.”
The statement goes on to note that with North Macedonia, Keller Williams now has 18 master franchises in Europe. Others are located in the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, France, Monaco, Poland, Greece and other countries. In total, the company has 270 market centers and 17,500 agents outside the U.S. and Canada.
To put that into context, Alexander the Great engaged in 20 battles between 338 BC and 325 BC. He won them all, conquering Egypt, Persia and parts of the Indian subcontinent along the way. Much like Keller Williams today, global expansion was a key part of his growth strategy.
Keller Williams also has further plans to venture into still more new lands, with Tuesday’s statement noting that the company is “exploring further expansion opportunities across Africa, Central and South America, Central and Eastern Europe, and throughout Asia.”
In the meantime, however, Siljanoski expressed optimism about Keller Williams’ prospects in North Macedonia, saying that “we’re ready to positively disrupt the real estate landscape in” the country.
“We’re committed to adapting KW’s time-tested models and systems to the unique dynamics of North Macedonia,” he added in the statement. “With world-class training and a shared mindset for growth, our agents will rise to new standards, as we succeed together.”
