HomeServices of America announced Thursday that it has appointed real estate coaching veteran — and popular Inman contributor — Jimmy Burgess as chief coaching officer.

Jimmy Burgess
In a statement, the company said the role is newly created, adding that Burgess’ job will now involve leading “the design and implementation of agent and leadership coaching across the HomeServices enterprise.” He will also “provide strategic coaching initiatives that blend practical tools with real-world application — supporting performance, productivity, and personal growth,” the statement adds.
Burgess said in the statement that he is “excited to help move our enterprise forward through investing personally in our people.”
“A commitment of this magnitude to training speaks volumes about our agent-centric approach to our organization,” Burgess continued. “The more skills we equip our agents with, the more successful they will be in serving the needs of their clients.”
In addition to assuming the role of Chief Coaching Officer, Burgess will also become president of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Beach Properties of Florida, where he was previously serving as chief growth officer. Burgess spent more than a decade at the company, based in Santa Rosa, Florida.
He also recently worked as an agent and team builder at Real, according to his LinkedIn page.
Burgess has been working in real estate since the mid-1990s, though many in the industry will likely know him best for his frequent and popular Inman columns. In recent days, for example, he has written about the habits of successful agents, lead farming and open houses, among other topics.
The statement from HomeServices further notes that Burgess is “known for his insight-driven, results- oriented approach to leadership development. He has coached thousands of agents, authored countless training resources, and built a strong following for his ability to connect, motivate, and elevate.”

“This national role reflects rour commitment to investing in people, performance, and long-term growth,” Kelly added, referring to the chief coaching officer position. “To add someone of Jimmy’s expertise to the role makes our organization even more of a leader in this arena. His energy, clarity, and agent-first philosophy make him the ideal leader to shape the future of coaching at HomeServices.”
