Inman is launching its first-ever pitch battle on Wednesday, July 29, at Inman Connect San Diego.
“I had a lot of fun producing the New York pitch battle earlier this year, and the response from founders and attendees was fantastic,” Inman contributor and HomeCode Reviews principal Troy Palmquist said. “I’m looking forward to taking everything we learned there and making San Diego even better.”

Applications are open now and close this Friday. Eight companies will then be selected to advance to the live event, where judges will narrow the field to a Top 3. The championship round will then take place during Cocktails at Connect, where live audience participation will factor into crowning the winner.
Judges for the event will be Andrew Flachner of RealScout, Lauren Henss of First Team, Jackie Soto of eHomes, Stephanie Alfonso of Constant Contact and Matt Fischer of Lone Wolf. The mix of brokerage, proptech and marketing perspectives represents the different lenses startups need to win over in order to be successful, Palmquist said.
To be considered, interested companies must:
- Support residential real estate brokerages, teams or individual agents
- Have launched their product within the past three years
- Report under $10 million in annual recurring revenue
- Have a live product with paying customers
“This isn’t just another demo day. It’s an opportunity to tell your story, showcase your product, and get in front of some of the biggest names in residential real estate,” Palmquist said in his LinkedIn call for applications.
