Compass, Zillow, Rocket and more reported Q2 earnings this week — and the results show a real estate industry splitting in two.

For real estate industry watchers, the second-quarter earnings season just weighed in on consolidation, and the verdict? If your growth depends on size and scale, you had a great week. If it depends on the housing market actually picking up, you probably didn’t.

Compass reported record revenue — more than double last year’s, thanks to its Anywhere acquisition — and its stock felt the love. Rocket nearly doubled revenue, too, after grabbing market share with its Redfin and Mr. Cooper deals.

Meanwhile, signs point to a tough few months ahead as we look to close out 2026, and some CEOs don’t see the current market conditions as a reset but, rather, as the new normal.
