In this interview, I caught up with Frank Tommaso, founder and CEO of Blu Skyy Realty in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Blu Skyy empowers all agents with the popular CRM Kunversion and offers specialized training to better leverage technology.

Tammaso reveals why Kunversion was the obvious choice and the earning potential made possible by a tech-focused brokerage.

Craig Rowe: In a recent press release, you said your company is “always seeking ways to improve upon the real estate process for homebuyers, sellers, and agents.” What parts of the process are most in need of improvement?

Frank Tommaso: In our experience, two areas that many real estate agents and brokerages struggle with are communication with clients and prospects and generating leads. To address the on-the-go needs of homebuyers and sellers, we have empowered our agents with technology.

Our CRM provides text and email functionality from within, and our full platform provides 24/7 chat attendants and live call centers. Our agents experience ease of doing business and our clients and prospects experience our high-touch communication.

Another important part of the process that is evolving is how agents are generating leads. With the frequent use of the Internet in the home search process today, many new client leads can be generated using online techniques.

We provide tools to our agents to generate leads at a fraction of the cost of purchasing from a lead service. This allows our agents to be more productive and successful with lower personal overhead.

Blu Skyy offers Kunversion to its agents to generate and track leads. Did you look at other CRMs, and what led to your choice?

No, the choice was very clear. Although I have used different CRMs in the past, nothing compares to the capabilities of the Kunversion platform. Agents joining Blu Skyy Realty can typically double what they earn by embracing the training and systems we provide.

Double? That sounds enticing.

The “predictive” nature of our platform allows our agents to nurture and develop relationships with literally thousands of potential customers and clients simultaneously.

And, the developers are continually making improvements and upgrades to the system.

What’s a typical day like for a Blu Skyy agent?

It goes without saying that our agents who are fully invested in our platforms and technology are extremely busy. Being able to access all client information in our CRM and cloud virtual office allows agents to hit the ground running every day, from anywhere.

Because access to their entire real estate business is actually at their fingertips, our agents are able to better manage their time and resources. It is so easy for Blu Skyy agents to stay connected with clients and prospects.

It’s clear you’re using technology to find and nurture leads, does it carry over into the transaction itself, or are you still relying on a traditional approach to managing that side of the deal?

The entire real estate transaction is manageable through our agent cloud office and CRM system.

You’re also offering a very agent-centric commission structure. Is this because the cloud services provide you with operational savings?

That is correct. A cloud broker doesn’t have the typical overhead of a brick-and-mortar operation. We pass that savings along to our agents in the form of higher commission splits and $10K recruiting bonuses.

Blu Skyy is not part of any regional boards? What led to that decision?

Blu Skyy Realty is a dual company. We are members of the National Association of Realtors in certain areas, so our agents always have a choice.

Do you envision more in the industry moving toward your lightweight, tech-heavy approach?

Yes. With the large amount of homebuyers and sellers starting their searches online, the days of snail mail postcard farming, sitting duty and door-knocking are a way of the past.
