Pacaso will work with The Agency to broker co-ownership of luxury homes, Inman has learned.
“Through this collaboration, The Agency’s agents can now offer Pacaso’s luxury co-owned vacation properties to their clients, making vacation homeownership more effortless in premier destinations worldwide,” the companies announced in a Feb. 25 statement.
Pacaso was co-founded by Austin Allison and Spencer Rascoff as a model for allowing more people to buy second homes. Up to eight owners can share use of a single luxury home in markets like Malibu and Aspen, or Los Cabo and Paris.
The company’s proprietary technology tools assist owners in managing usage periods and coordinating services. Pacaso works only with local agents and vendors to handle sales and management needs and has partnered with a number of companies over the years to offer value-added services to owners, such as child care, transportation and interior design.
“The Agency is a globally recognized brokerage with a strong presence in the top real estate markets, offering an impressive portfolio of luxury listings and a team of best-in-class agents,” Allison said in the statement. “Through this partnership, we are providing their clients with a smarter, more accessible way to own a luxury vacation home in the world’s most sought-after destinations.”
Apparently, the two companies will also expand listing availability in a number of luxury markets, such as La Jolla, California; Miami; Vail, Colorado; London and Napa, California, among other domestic and international destinations.
The Agency has executed on a number of growth moves in the last few years, most recently bringing on board The Jeff Davidson Group in San Diego, formerly a Compass office. Since April, the brokerage has brought on four teams and agents totaling about $1 billion in sales volume, Inman reported in August 2024.
Turnabout, however, is fair play. In October, Compass announced it had recruited New York City top producer Daniel Blatman away from The Agency.
“We’re excited to partner with Pacaso, as this collaboration perfectly aligns with The Agency’s ethos of offering fresh, forward-thinking solutions for our clients,” The Agency President Rainy Hake Austin said in the statement. “Working with like-minded brands that share our commitment to innovation and excellence ensures we can provide exceptional opportunities like this to those seeking their dream vacation home.”
The Agency was named Inman’s Top Luxury Brokerage in 2022. Its founder and CEO, Mauricio Umansky, is a frequent Inman Connect speaker and aspiring industry change maker. He co-founded an alternative industry trade group, the American Real Estate Association and argued on stage for ending the Clear Cooperation Policy at Inman Connect New York. He is also an Inman Contributor.
Umansky and Allison will jointly announce the partnership at The Agency Forum in Palm Springs, California, on March 18.
