Four days ago, ERA Real Estate announced Alex Vidal’s exit — thanking the leader for his vision and dedication, but refusing to share details regarding the reason for his departure. REMAX provided the other piece of the puzzle today, announcing that Vidal had accepted the president’s position at the Denver-based franchisor.

“Alex understands this business from the ground up and has spent his career helping agents, broker-owners and organizations reach the next level of what’s possible,” said Tamir Poleg, Chairman and CEO of Real REMAX Group, in a press release. “He brings the experience, drive and competitive mindset this moment calls for. Alex will play a central role in turning ambition into action for the global REMAX brand and its network of more than 145,000 agents.”
Vidal has been in the industry for 30 years, starting as a secretary at Keyes Real Estate, one of South Florida’s largest and most well-known brokerages. After a year serving at the side of then-president Mike Pappas, Vidal became a skilled real estate agent, recruiting director, sales coach and sales manager at ERA Herman Real Estate and RelatedISG International Realty, before Anywhere (then-Realogy) tapped Vidal to become a regional vice president for Coldwell Banker Dallas-Ft. Worth in 2020.
Three years later, company leaders moved him to ERA after longtime leader Sherry Chris retired from her roles at ERA and Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. Vidal’s appointment made history, as he became the first Hispanic brand president of any major real estate brand.
During his time at the firm, Vidal was respected for his hands-on leadership, with him personally leading coaching, training and education sessions for ERA’s network of more than 40,000 affiliated agents. Frank Malpica took over Vidal’s seat on Aug. 28, building on his 15-year history at the brand.

Alex Vidal
“I’ve spent my career working alongside agents and broker-owners, understanding their businesses and helping them reach levels they may not have thought possible,” he said in a prepared statement. “I’m excited to bring that experience to the REMAX network, learn from the REMAX community and then work alongside them to make sure all our efforts are focused on helping them have their best year yet.”
“REMAX has an incredible story to tell, and I want to make sure we’re telling it in a way that matches the strength of the this network,” he added. “As part of Real REMAX Group, we have the opportunity to pair the strength, experience and productivity of this network with technology that can help REMAX agents operate more efficiently, build stronger businesses and spend more time with the people they serve.”
Vidal’s appointment came roughly a week after Real completed its $880 million acquisition of REMAX, creating the Real REMAX Group.
The deal marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Denver-based firm, which has struggled in recent years with growth amid intensifying brokerage consolidation and competition. REMAX’s final earnings report as an independent company showed agent count, overall revenue and recurring revenue streams all declined compared to 2025.
The Real REMAX Group has begun shifting the leadership lineup at REMAX, with former President and Chief Growth Officer Chris Lim and Executive Vice President of Strategy Travis Saxton both leaving their posts. REMAX Holdings CEO Erik Carlson is also expected to step down as CEO following the acquisition and join the Real REMAX Group board, a previous Inman article explained.
“We’re going to move with purpose,” Vidal said. “And I’m ready to remind the industry exactly what REMAX brings to real estate.”
