  • I actually think that video
    By Vito Boscaino www.ServingColumbus.comDecember 18, 2009 - 9:55am

I actually think that video is overrated as a potential industry "gamechanger". There is a lot of video out there now. How much of it actually gets watched? Video requires incremental time versus reading text. Anyone who utilizes the internet on a regualr basis is alread inundated with so much noise and an overwhelming amount of data and information, that piling video on top of this, and the fact that it requires incremental effort, for very little if any potential benefit, just seems like a non-starter to me. • Robert - I agree with you

Robert - I agree with you completely and am glad someone with industry visibility is calling BS on "Mobile" as the wave of the future in real estate, and for understanding that at the end of the day - Any marketing iniatives that firm pursues should be measured by the impact on top and bottom line results, and must also be compared against any other reasonable marketing alternatives in order to recognize where maximum value is being added. Business is really nothing other than a series of trade-off decisions and ALL marketing and sales efforts should be approached with this in mind. While I spend a fair bit of time experimenting with Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Plaxo, Trulia, Zillow, Google PPC, SEO, ActiveRain initiatives etc., etc. The only direct correlation that I can find to date is that organic SEO efforts combined with a carefully scripted and managed PPC campaign are really the drivers of lead activity into my site, and therefore my business. I also undertsand that creating "leads" is worth nothing without a sophisticated and comprehensive ability to incubate and manage those leads over time. It appears to me that many folks in real estate would be far better off ignoring ALL the social media platforms and focusing their limited budgets on adopting a site capability that provides very strong lead management tools. • John from Arizona: Wow -

John from Arizona: Wow - What a professional you seem to be. I imagine from your comments that you must believe everything that you hear and read. Just becuase Marc writes an article doesn't mean anything. If you haven't noticied there is a lot of garbage floating around on the web. For a focused real estate industry venue like Inman News, I felt that he did not really convey anything meaningful in his piece. If you didn't take the time to fully read the piece or if you were not paying attention, Marc happens to be a professional speaker by trade. Since he is holding himself out to be an expert then he also holds himslef out to be challenged and at times criticized. Personally I believe my comments contributed far more than Marc's piece did, and certainly more than your childish insults. I wish you good luck in your efforts, because it is obvious that you don't bring a lot of professionalism to your firm.
