I joined Inman News in 2004 and have worked as a journalist since 1994. I oversee editorial content as managing editor for Inman News. Prior to my experience at Inman, I wrote about the commercial insurance industry for Crittenden Newsletters. For much of my career I worked in newspapers, covering everything from nuclear weapons research labs to city government offices as a beat reporter. I have worked for The Davis Enterprise, San Luis Obispo Telegram-Tribune and ANG Newspapers.

    Thank you for your comments on this article. Regarding the commentary on for-sale-by-owner vs. non-for-sale-by-owner sales, the headline includes "FSBO" (in quotes) in recognition that industry practitioners typically define FSBO sales as sales in which there is no listing agent. (Of course, even this type of sale may involve a real estate agent on the buy side of the transaction.) So this is not a classic FSBO, in the industry's common usage of the term, as there is a listing agent involved. But because the listing agent is also an owner of the home, Inman News refers to it as a "FSBO" listing in the headline and explains the specific circumstances of the listing in the article.
